R8 Core is a family of rods focused on maximum versatility and utilizing revolutionary new material technology through our perspective on what we see on the water, where one rod needs to show even more range. At its core, the R8 CORE relates directly to Sage's vision of multiple uses, shaped by the evolution of angling occurring around us - from the habitats we inhabit and the waters we frequent, to the flies we fish and the variety of species we now hunt. Available from 3wt to 9wt, with various lengths from 8'6“ to 10'0”, you're sure to find a model that meets the basic needs of any freshwater angler.

R8 Technology

The advanced, state-of-the-art material used in R8 allows us to shape a rod with a stiffer, stronger backbone, but a more responsive tip and better feel. The secret is twofold. First, a patented aerospace composite with greater strength allows us to dimensionally increase the diameter of the taper from the tip faster - while a nano-spun resin increases axial spring and allows us to pack more fibers in the blank, resulting in a direct connection from hand to fly and back again, for better feel, flow and control.
